The ON DPG Mentorship Program IS NOT a program intended to provide preparation for taking the CSO exam.
This program is intended to provide support, guidance, and information to dietitians that are new to Oncology Nutrition, or to those who wish to increase their depth and breadth of knowledge.
The ON DPG Mentorship Program includes two types of structures to provide mentors and mentees with an option that works best for them.
Informal
- Is intended for mentors looking for a less structured, more flexible option
- Allows the mentee to ask general questions and receive informal guidance
- Does not require development of specific goal and objectives
- Does not require a designated frequency or duration
- Can be initiated and completed easily
- Allows the mentee to self-select their mentor.
- The ON DPG Mentorship Program coordinators are available for assistance as needed
Formal
- Is a traditional, more structured program
- ON DPG Mentorship Coordinators select a mentor for mentees based on their identified needs
- The application requires the mentee to identify specific goals to achieve during the partnership
- A written agreement between Mentor and Mentee will include:
- Mentee’s identified goals and objectives
- Frequency and duration of contact
- Expected timeline for completion of partnership
- Duration of the partnership is expected to be at least 6 months
- ON DPG Mentorship Program coordinators provide support and guidance as needed
